Management Information Systems (MIS) involve collecting and processing information using any smart gadgets, for instance, computers, to enhance decision making in an organization. Globalization has been there for a very long time, but the advancement in technology has seen it accelerate. MIS have been the key catalyst for global integration (Wallace, 2018). This part of technology has ensured that companies stay up to date with the demands and the continuous change in the market across the world.
Employees of the same company can easily exchange data and ideas without necessarily being in the same country. MIS have even made it easier for companies to hold conferences with their employees from all over the world via video conferencing. Through Information Systems, businesses can seamlessly analyze the trends from all levels of the company situated anywhere on the globe. This demonstrates how technology has facilitated the expansion of ideas and products among people regardless of the distance separating them.
The 21st century has been the mother of all inventions and discoveries. 20 years ago, it would have been difficult even to imagine that you could buy something from the U.K (Galliers & Leidner, 2014) while sitting in your living room somewhere in Asia, thanks to technology. The economy in the current century is highly dependent on Information Systems. Goods whose production is directly or indirectly enhanced by the Information Technology are used everywhere in the contemporary world.

Side Question:
The success of managers in any field is highly dependent on the knowledge they have about their areas of expertise. Without the technical know-how, the impact brought by the manager will be very minimal, if any. In IT fields or any other field for that matter, the decisions made require serious reasoning and the slightest mistake could lead to a very devastating disaster. As a manager, you also have to be able to show some leadership to the rest of your team. To be an effective leader, you have to know how to navigate various problems whenever your team calls on you. Therefore, the technical skills and knowledge are among the things that a competent manager should have.
