Governance and Public Policy
The Democratic concept or principle of choice is the ‘Due process of Law.’ I choose the principle to enumerate on rights of citizens and justice administration in a democratic nation. The Principle focuses on the rights of an individual, that is, the right to life and immunity to the property through the due process (Chemerinsky, 2016). In a democratic Nation, any individual on trial for a crime has a right to a just, quick public hearing. Under the trial rights, an individual is considered innocent unless proven he/she is proven guilty. An individual under trial has the right to know the charges behind his or her arrest, right not to offer any response to questions laid out and to be represented by an advocate (Wilson, 2017). He or she also has the right to defend him or herself and to examine the witnesses laid for or against him or her. The Due Process of Law also safeguards against torture, cruelty or discrimination. Any imprisonment or property seizure must be backed up by Legal justification.
Before the Supreme Court declares an individual guilty, it has to declare charges laid against him or her, and advice on advocacy. The Supreme Court can also allow the accused to represent him or herself and examine the witnesses on the stand. The Supreme Court also during the period of the trial is obligated to provide immunity to the accused from physical or psychological harm that may be inflicted through torture (Chemerinsky, 2016).

Wait! Governance and Public Policy paper is just an example!

The Supreme Court should also disregard and reinstitute any property that may be seized illegally without justification. Such actions will ensure the Supreme Court adheres to the provisions of the Constitutions in regards to the Due Process of Law.
