For instance, in the play, the author did not depict the scene of King Hamlet funeral while in the film it is depicted. In the film, the character Hamlet appears to be much older than Ophelia, who looked about the intended age when in the play. It is also seen in the play that the first scene is when the first of King Hamlet is introduced in the play when it appears to the guards on duty, Bernando and Marcellus. While in the film this scene is not shown anywhere. The ghost is later introduced in the film when Horatio is seen telling Hamlet about the ghost. The role of women
In both film and movie, the presence of two women characters depicts something about the role of women. Also, the death of both women is an indicator of social commentary. In the play, Gertrude is seen as if she remarried so fast and that she did not marry her first husband, King Hamlet. In both cases, women were suppressed by men and always felt inferior, and the issue of male dominance was rampant. Both Ophelia and Gertrude had little or no power. They had legal, economic as well as a social restriction in the society of Elizabeth. It is also seen in the film that Gertrude is a peacemaker. Gertrude is also seen in the movie as a mother trying to reconfigure her family with her new husband when he tries to pull Hamlet in.
In conclusion, the play Hamlet is considered to be among the most influential works in the field of literature. This is due to the drama, themes portrayed as well as events that circle the daily human lives.
