A health care provider is generally any person, company, program or agency that works to provide the necessary healthcare to the public, who in this case, are the patients suffering from a range of illnesses. Hence their presence is important to the survival of the human race as they are trained to administer health care services to patients which help them in the cure of illnesses, fractured and broken bones, diseases, or any other calamities that may befall the human body that they are trained and equipped to administer treatment.
Preventive or Public health
These health care providers are tasked with the responsibility of providing treatment to patients for them to be able to avoid certain illnesses or reduce the effect of a certain disease from becoming worse.
The following are provided:
Vaccinations – these are mostly administered to children and young adults, they tend to boost the immune system of an individual, and they introduce antigens into the body to prevent diseases such as tetanus, influenza, and measles as they are considered severe if contracted. Vaccines are administered according to age and the living conditions of an individual together with much more other factors.
Check-ups – instead of visiting a healthcare institution in the event of an illness or injury, one can undertake to have regular check-ups. This is where the physician can monitor your heart and blood pressure readings together with other diagnostic readings that may be needed to determine the occurrence of an illness and if necessary, he or she can prescribe medication to be able to bring the readings to the required levels (healthy).

Routine Tests and Exams – These are most important for the elderly in the society as they need to be regularly checked as the occurrence of diseases can occur at any particular moment due to their low immune system. These tests are mostly done for diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and cancer as they are very common among the elderly in the society.
These preventive health care services are very vital to the community, and some are made to be offered to the public for free. This opportunity is mostly taken advantage by most people, but some tend to ignore. Delayed access to receiving health care poses an adverse impact on one’s health status, and those who have already contracted diseases are more likely to worsen their state leading to the development of entirely new health problems hence a complication (Walland, 2016).
Ambulatory or primary care
These health care providers provide medical care mostly for outpatients. These include; the conducting of diagnosis, observation, the treatment of illnesses, rehabilitation, intervention and consultation services. Even though the care can be conducted outside hospitals, this doesn’t root out the presence of advanced healthcare technology and processes being used.
Health conditions referred to as “Ambulatory care sensitive conditions” are prevented, or their effects are reduced by the administering of ambulatory care. This reduces or also prevents the need for seeking admission to a healthcare facility; these diseases include; “chronic obstructive pulmonary disease” or diabetes (Quinn, Weimar, Gray & Davies, 2016).
Most of the medical examinations and treatments for chronic and acute illnesses and preventive medical care can be provided by the ambulatory care. Also the performing of minor surgeries and procedures, most cases of dental services, dermatology services, and many diagnostic procedures, for example, blood tests, the performing of X-rays, biopsy and endoscopy. Also in the event of an emergency, or any case of rehabilitation visits, ambulatory care will provide the necessary healthcare advice or treatment. In rare occasions, telephone consultations are also provided.
This healthcare provider has been very vital to the rapid improvement of the health care system in many developing countries despite the increase of hospital expenses upon its emergence (Chen & Dana, 2016).
Ambulatory care can be grouped into five categories:
Virtual health – this is where care and education are provided through the use of emails, mobile apps, websites and other electronic sources.
Mobile health – this is where care is provided to patients who live in a community where healthcare cannot be provided locally. This comprises of mobile infrastructure and around the clock physicians who move from one place to another to provide medical care.
Primary care – This is where care is provided to the people locally at a permanent infrastructure. The model of primary care achieves optimality by increasing the value it offers to patients and employers through providing a high level of care accompanied with an outstanding service at a very low cost.
Single-specialty treatment – This is where concentration is put on the treatment of a particular type of disease. Other services which are non-medical but related to the disease can also be found; this can include; social work and counseling.
Destination Centers – This is where there is a wide range of medical specialties and hence different medical care can be provided hence they can achieve similar levels of health care as hospitals. A typical example can be a hospital in the community that has no beds.
