In recent past Vietnam has made tremendous progress in trying to improve the health of its citizens. It has surpassed or equaled its neighbors. In Vietnam the life expectancy has increased, it is higher when compared to similar countries with the same gross domestic product. But despite all this achievements Vietnam health sector is still facing a lot of disparities. Some health issue has been identified in the recent past. This includes challenges such as the spread of non-communicable diseases, which include diabetes, cancer and heath diseases, aging populations and the spread of infectious diseases, inequalities in the access of health facilities and the inadequate health facilities to offer health service to the people of Vietnam.
In Vietnam infectious diseases has remained a health concern for many people. For example, Deng fever has remained one of the prevalent and the disease has affected many in the recent years. Vietnam is also going through epidemiological changes, this means the illnesses which are attributed to chronic non communicable has been rising quicker than expected (Wilson, Mendes et al, 2016). In Vietnam the non-communicable disease has been spreading rapidly in the rural areas of Vietnam, this has been warning that this may result in catastrophic health expenditure and poverty in rural areas.
Also in Vietnam, the probability of breasts is at a lower rate. But the high cost of treating cancer in Vietnam is worrying especially the patients who are not able access health insurance.

Moreover, when it comes Vietnam, there is the high level of smoking. This is because most of the populations lack the knowledge on the effects of smoking to their health, this is most prevalent on those citizens who belong to ethnic minorities. Also, alcohol remains a health issue in Vietnam. To finalize on this issue, one of the health disparities which is facing Vietnam is an aging population. This is because these people are vulnerable to diseases which are proving to be a challenge to the country.
