Healthcare Information System
Healthcare information system refers to a system that has been designed for clinics and hospitals to manage data. The system is used to receive, store, manage, refer and transmit a patient’s record. In this information age, there is a need for a system that can capture data of all the patients for research purposes and ease in diagnosing a currently existing disease. Examples of healthcare information systems are Electronics medical record (EMR) and practice management software.
Electronic medical record is sometimes referred to as electronic health record. It basically means that a patient’s record is stored in the computer system and can be retrieved from a hospital’s local area network. In a case where a doctor is not present on a certain date, a different doctor can go through the previous information and results recorded and diagnose appropriately on the disease ailing a patient. A hospitals local area network can also be shared with another hospital network to determine the major disease ailing a particular area or location.
Practice management software is another example of a healthcare information system that helps doctors, administrators and medical practitioners in the daily operations of the hospital. The management software is helpful in administrative tasks such as communication from the directors to the doctors. The system also helps in the planning of upcoming meetings and addressing agendas that need to be highlighted.

Wait! Healthcare Information System paper is just an example!

Healthcare information systems have become integral in every medical facility. They hold very personal information about their patients and privacy is essential. There is the need for protection from individuals that might want the information for malicious purposes (Kaiser family foundation, 2018).
The two systems are similar in such a way that they can be accessed through the computer by different staff that works at a particular hospital or clinic. Mostly, the team has their passwords that they can use to log in and access the information that they need. The difference is that with the practice management software only the administrative employees can access it. Only the top managers of an organization can go through the total amount of revenue available in their organization and can make changes on how payments are formed on a specific month or year. As for the electronic medical record, the input to be made is only about a patient’s medical history and an existing condition.
The information systems are tailor designed for hospitals and clinics that have many employees and many clients. The systems can be used to manage payments of staff, communicate between staff and also to store information of every patient that visits them.
There are internet sites that provide demos for healthcare information systems. The sites are reliable and can give demos that you can practice with before purchase of the correct policy. They are stable according to the reviews and major hospital institutions use and recommend them. With a demo, an organization can test and see if the information system suits their organization before purchase.
