Lessons from the Book of Hebrews Chapter One
Hebrews remains one of the most important epistles that were written to teach the early Christians on important doctrines and encourage them to be steadfast in their faith no matter how challenging it was to be a Christian believer at the time. Although the book was targeted to the Christian community in Hebrew, it still remains a significant in the contemporary society. This article critically analyzes the important contributions of Hebrews 1 to the understanding of the concept of hand, head and heart.
In this chapter, the author centered the message on the role of Jesus Christ as a medium of communication between believers and God especially at this time when we are nearing the last days of the universe. Unlike it was before, God no longer communicates to us through the prophets, but through Jesus Christ, who is more important and powerful than the angles and prophets. As God’s only chosen son, Jesus readily offered His life as a ransom to save humanity from the yoke of sins. This is a very important lesson because it teaches us about the significance of Jesus Christ in Christianity. Had it not been for Him, man would not have been saved from sins. All these were done because of God’s kindness, power and love for man. Otherwise, He would have left man to die because of their sinful acts.
From this chapter, we learn a lot about the concept of hand. As written in the chapter, Jesus, after accomplishing His tasks on earth, ascended to heaven and sat on the right hand of God.

Wait! Hebrews 1 paper is just an example!

It is clearly written, ‘After he had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven’ (Hebrews 1:4). From this verse, we learn that hand is symbolically used in the holy Bible to refer to God’s power, victory and strength. As a powerful son of God, Jesus is given a special place in the God’s kingdom. That is why He is given an opportunity to sit in God’s right hand side because it is a space reserved for the righteous. This teaches us that hand is a significant part of the body that can determine our fate. When we live a righteous life, we will have to enjoy the favor of God. Thus, like Jesus Christ, we not only emerge victorious, but we will become powerful and enjoy life in God’s paradise.
The other lesson learnt from this chapter is about the role of heart and head in a Christian life. Had God not been a loving father, He would not have offered His only son to die for the sake of human kind. The same can be said of Jesus Christ, who offered Himself as a sacrifice for sinners. It demonstrates that, as Christians, we should be ready to emulate the good examples given by God. Our heart remains a significant part of our right because it brings us closer to God. If we have a heart of love, care and concern, we will act like Jesus who did not bother about the pains, but readily accepted to be persecuted by the Jews. If we become humble and have a kind heart, we will win against our enemies, enjoy God’s favor and eventually be selected to be in His right hand side. This will make us to lead a fulfilling life in Christ.
