Animal Testing
The battle to end the use of animals for lab testing has lasted for decades since the cry from animal activist started in the year 2002 (McNamee, 2009). Before that, there were claims, and the lab was misusing animals to perform their experiments most of which were failing. Several people support the use of animals for lab testing have claimed that the process has led to the discovering of medicine and vaccines that have saved millions of people around the world. Others have argued that the use of animals has given the world an option to perform medical research on living things without having to take the risk on human life. As a result, the humanity of people has vanished, and human being has become more selfish to animals than ever. Coster (2011) argues that man was meant to take care of animals and not mistreat them or kill them. The concept of using animals for try and error in the labs has resulted in the death of hundreds of innocent animals. Others have been left in terrible health conditions and are struggling to survive (Mur, 2004).
The fight to end experiments on animals for the sake of discovering the cure for diseases has materialized more thought-out the world as a result of improvement in technology. Mur (2004) states that currently there is a mechanism such as computers that can allow simulation of several medical experiments and provide more accurate result than the case of using animals for research. According to McNamee (2009), the advancement in research technology has offered the option of not using animals for research instead simulate the experiment variables using computer software.
