Does IT Matter?
The power and ubiquity of Information Technology have been increasing, but still, IT matters in the business organizations and other firms as well. The reasons why IT matters are as follows: The strategic importance of the information technology is to make work done by the human effort lighter and much faster. The increased use of IT in the business makes it easier for the management to understand the trending market and even to easily get new customers. Through the new technology, the customers are able to order for products and get the products delivered to them at their doorstep. This, therefore, makes the businesses have customers beyond their geographical boundaries. The management also finds it much convenient to review the progress of the firm anywhere regardless of their area of location. In case the information technology is withdrawn in the business sector, every firm will have few customers. And also it will take time for the customers to raise complaints about poor delivery of products or poor services offered by the firm. In addition to that, the employees in the business organization will have to increase in number in order to accomplish the same task done using the technology in time.
According to Carr’s ideology about the IT application in the business sector, IT does not matter due to the following reasons; most of the management in the firms do not value the quality of products that they sell to their customers (Carr 6).
