Intertextuality and evolution of cultural themes in society
The first media text that highlights the concept of intertextuality is the movie clip Chicago. In this clip, a narrative is displayed by several celebrities about the significance of their lifestyle of fame (Paulo min 02:03). An example is outlined through a song by Roxie who is overwhelmed by the fact that by being a celebrity her name will be known all over the world. Moreover, she is excited at the thought of her face featuring on the media coverage globally.

The second media with an outstanding theme of intertextuality is the Saturday Night Live show on CNN. On this particular session, there is a discussion with Kellyanne Conway regarding the Trump’s presidency. Conway was initially the campaign manager for Donald Trump but is currently the White House counselor. Conway gets pride from being an essential part of the presidential team (min 01:09). She is delighted to have been selected into the position because it was the leeway for her coming to the limelight. She displays the aspect of celebrities emanating from political platforms.

The use of intertextuality in the two clips above depicts how cultural themes in the society have evolved. For instance, the first clip shows that showbiz is a good opening for those who yearn for celebrity status in society.

On the other hand, Conway in the second clip passes a message that joining politics is advantageous for gaining fame. Showbiz and politics were initially viewed as dirty games as they were the roots to an individual’s problems in life (Sternheimer 2).
End Times of Pop Culture
Zara states that exposure to a variety of technology has currently changed the trends of choosing pop culture exposure to a variety of technology has currently changed the trends of choosing pop culture (n.p.). The changes include a generation of people who will lose the value of media texts in short spans of time because there are numerous sites for information that fit with individual ideologies (Danesi 327). Therefore, the survival of this rich culture relies on people adopting a lifestyle of creativity to be as innovative as technological discoveries dictate.
Analyzing a Classmates Chosen Media Texts
The movie Easy-A and the song “love story” are a great illustration of intertextuality. They are scripted about societal topics of concern that have emerged as discussions in many other media texts. By addressing the particular themes the movie and the song engage audiences on issues that significantly affect their lives. The teenage girl represents the female gender that yearns for recognition for the milestones they achieve in life. On the other hand, Romeo and Juliet stand for the many young relationships that seek an opportunity to blossom.
