Is American Becoming Totalitarian?
The move taken by Donald to open a US embassy in Jerusalem has incited a lot of discussion on whether he is driving USA totalitarian regime. The rule of Donald trump exhibited some characteristics that are related to totalitarian rule .the following are some of the recent advances that have portrayed Donald Trump as a totalitarian leader.
Totalitarian regime controls the truth. Donald Trump has intimidated the media. The president has always attacked the media and referred to them as the “the opposition party.” The war on the freedom of the press has been advanced to some organizations such as New York Times and Amazon Washington Post. The main aim behind the attack the media is to conceal the truth on the matters that pertain to leadership. Totalitarian leaders hold on the belief that they are the only one who knows the truth. Donald Trump insisted that Barrack Obama is not an American .the idea was one of the means of perverting the truth in the state. The move by the president to, conceal the truth, control the media and attack on journalist confirms that America is gradually adopting the totalitarian type of government (Gray 34).
According to (Gray 38), Totalitarian regime emphasizes on “us vs. them” mentality. The slogan of Trump of “making America great again” has led to the massive deportation of immigrants. The black protestors have been suppressed. Muslim immigrants have been banned from entering America.

The president has proposed the construction of border wall. The claim that the “outsiders” are a threat to America has forced the president to accumulate resources that are aimed at attacking the enemies. President Trump uses government agencies to attack the political opponents. The president employs CIA and FBI to attack his political opponents. His legal time has pursued Robert Mueller with the aim of silencing demonstrators
The president of America is surrounded by sycophants .the leaders in Donald trump’s government has demonstrated extreme loyalty to the president. The disloyal members are removed from the inner circle. The recent appointments of some leaders such as Andy Puzder to the inner circle indicate the need for Trump to surround himself with like-minded individuals who will advance his agenda of adopting a totalitarian form of governance. Democracy has been jeopardized as the totalitarian coup looms in Americ. “Alternative facts” have been promoted to hinder the public from accessing the reality. The president has extended his hands to powerful leaders in the world such as president Putin to ensure that his agenda of making American totalitarian is achieved (Gray 38).
American Supreme Court has been stacked with leaders loyal to the president. The appointment of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court will enforce the constitutional amendments that will give power to trump to exercise totalitarian rule. Many constructional questions are at risk as the appointees to the Supreme Court have the aim of driving the agendas of the president (Lewis 103).
President Trump calls for mass public adoration. He has led himself to be celebrated by the Americans. He considers that rebuking the leader is apostasy. Donald trump melted when the press claimed that his few people attended his inauguration. How he refuted the claim proves that he does not consider what other people will say about his actions. Currently, he makes serious decisions through his twitter handle without any consideration to the opinion of other world leaders (Lewis 103). The moves mentioned above show that American is headed to totalitarianism as the current president uses various mechanism to achieve the objective.
