According to the research conduct by Ohio State University on the behavioral approach to leadership, it was discovered that there is a clear difference between initiating structure and consideration ideology to leadership. Initiation structure, in this case, refers to the employees follow the rules and regulation set by the management. On the other hand, consideration dimension involves the leader developing a job relationship and gets concerned with the welfare of the subordinate to building trust, respect, and friendship. For any business to be successful, both the terminologies must be present within the business management system (Hartnell et al., 2016).
An example is when there was a piling up of responsibilities as the Medical center was in the process of cutting down on their costs. According to the nurses, the work was too much for them to handle. The workers who did not understand what was going on in the hospital started accusing the management of mistreating them and delegating more work to them than what they can handle. The Chief Medical Officer called a meeting with all the nurse and apologized to the workers for the increase in responsibilities and high level of stress they were getting from the piling work at the hospital and requested them to continue working as hard as they can so that they can keep the hospital running until it recovers financially. In return, he promised financial compensation once the economic problems in the firm were resolved.

In this case, the C.M.O applied the consideration theory and showed that he understood the stress and hard times the nurses were facing. Furthermore, he used the initiating structure ideology and requested the nurse to continue to perform their best without deviating from the normal operation of the hospital. Analyzing the approach that the C.M.O took, there are high chances that the nurses went back to work and complained less since by associating and letting them know that he understood the difficulties they were going through, he ended gaining more trust and respect. As a result, the nurses were willing to tolerate the harsh working conditions.
A task-oriented leader is necessary for situations where activities must be carried out in an organization without deviating from a specific norm or rule (Hersey, Blanchard, & Johnson, 2007). An instance that will call for a task-oriented leadership includes the construction of a skyscraper. In this case, the project manager must coordinate the vendors linked to the bills of materials and ensure all the process run within the detailed project timelines. The nature of business or activities carried out in such a construction site are standard, and everyone including the architects and the engineers must adhere to them to have a well and stable built structure. In this case, the product matters more than the process.
In a hospital set-up, the leaders within the industry must balance their approach to the medical staff, patients and all the employees working in the firm. Taking an example of a crucial surgery process, all the medical stuff inside the operation room must practice more of employee-oriented leadership to their subordinate since the procedures undertaken are critical to the survival of the patient.
My style of leadership relates to the employee-related leadership style since I believe that by considering the welfare of the employees leads to better working relationship and environment for everyone and in turn will result to everyone being motivated. As a result, there will be a constant rise in workers output.
