Life is Beautiful
Life is beautiful is an Italian film which was directed by Roberto Benigni who is also the main actor together with Vicenzo Braschi, the two who act as a young couple, the theme of the film is love and its genre is comedy-drama. The film was released on 20th December, 1997 and its length is 116 minutes. The critically-acclaimed film, Life is Beautiful, encompasses the need to appreciate and transform one’s obsoletes to absolutes. In that sense, to explore the myriad of positives that build character, memories, and stories. Illuminating the quintessential issues of the WWII era while maintaining a playful approach is what the director, writer, and star, Roberto Benigni, does so eloquently in this film.
In the film “Life is beautiful” Guido Orefice moves to Arezzo precisely in the year 1939 where he decides to start operating a bookstore while at the same time serving as a waiter in a local hotel. While in Arezzo Guido falls in love with a school teacher by the name Dora who happens to be in another relationship and happens to come from a wealthy family but luckily Guido manages to convince her to love him (Benigni). Afterwards, Guido and Dora marry and are blessed with a son named Giosue. The family of three live happily together until Giosue is five years old and it happens that World War II separates them because Guido is a Jewish (Benigni). The Germans take Guido while Dora and Giosue are taken to a labor camp. To protect Giosue from actions that took place, Guido lied that they were playing a game and the last part of the film comprises of measures of how Guido is trying to secure his family back.

Wait! Life is Beautiful paper is just an example!

The director of the film who is Guido achieved his purpose of expressing the hardship Jews citizens went through in Italy during this war-torn period. He fully realized to depict actions a man took despite them being unethical and harmful in an aim to ensure his family survived. For instance, Guido lied to his son that they were playing a game whereby the winner would be allowed to leave with the intention of hiding the truth from his son since those actions he was going through were horrific. Eventually, we see Guido dying but at least he had managed to save his family. My overall response to the movie is that it was fascinating due to the several instances of determination expressed by Guido and Dora. At that point where Dora is willing to be taken so that she be close to her family is very compelling however we see her being denied that chance and the fact that the director of the film has successfully met his purpose thought the movie. Moreover, it is very informative on horrific actions that took place during the holocaust hence that thrill effect and suspense of what will happen next thought out the film has enabled me to like the movie to a point where a can refer my friends to watch it.
In conclusion, the movie left me with several thoughts, but the main idea is what happened to Dora and Giosue after when the alien forces took over the camp with the fact that Guido was executed. My worry is that will Giosue have a normal life? And will Dora marry again?
