These and other many tools are incorporated in Shakespeare’s work in“Hamlet” to elaborate on various themes.
Prince Hamlet is summoned to attend his father’s funeral in Denmark. He is in a state of grief of his father’s demise and also expresses desperation. He questions why his mother’s decides to marry his brother in law Claudius. The first paragraph from Hamlets’s quotes describes his emotions vividly in analysing the conflict. The third paragraph describes the state of being or not being in existence when Hamlet wants to defeat the King. These short paragraphs intend to analyse the styles used to enhance the effectiveness of the text to the readers.
The first passage is the first Soliloquy of Hamlet; he is in a desperate situation, and he wishes that his flesh would deprive of solidity and resilience to a liquid or gaseous form. The writer uses imagery in this context to express Hamlet’s desperation.
The second passage is Hamlet’s second soliloquy which explores the theme of performance. He wonders how it is possible for the player to summon a feeling that is true for just something that does not exist while he is unable to bring his mind together to act in a challenge that demands a solution. The author uses the tool of rhetorical questions to make the readers relate directly to the situation that is making Hamlet wonder. It also gives the readers curiosity in analysing the theme in the context.
The third passage analyses the speech by Hamlet, and Hamlet must decide whether to put his own life on the line if he must defeat the King. The author uses a metaphor of death and existence, and the question that arises is whether in a situation where we have to make a horrific decision about fate, does one continue to be or does one cease to be. This kind of the question leaves the readers meditating, and the decision that has to be made is whether risking dying is worthy. But that is a horrific fate that requires one to make up their mind.
In conclusion, the text shows how Hamlet expresses his emotions in different situations. The author has incorporated styles such as the use of rhetorical questions, imagery and metaphors to communicate various themes from the different scenes. These styles enhance the effectiveness of the text.
