Manny PacquiaoBorn in 17th September 1978, Manny Pacquiao has risen to become one of the most prolific professional boxers. Currently, Manny is a Senator of the Philippines. Manny is not only known for his boxing skill but also for his forthrightness in matters concerning his Christian religion. While growing up, Manny was involved in several religions with the most prominent ones being Catholic, and his current religion the Evangelical Protestantism. Manny relentlessly claims that God spoke to him and that he fights and works for God’s Glory. Manny is a man of many diversities because he grew up playing basketball, served in the Philippine Army, practiced professional boxing and became a Senator in his home country (Oshiogwemoh, 1).
Unlike many of his sporting counterparts who are boastful and frivolous, Manny is a humble and level-headed person who has dedicated his life and wealth to God. Despite his current bearings regarding Christianity, Manny did not grow up being a staunch believer instead he got saved in 2012 while still a practicing professional boxer. As a result of the money he was earning, Manny was known to patronize high-end alcohol joints, had his way with numerous women and participated in gambling. Manny was at one time described as an all-night hound dog because of his love for partying and other night activities. Various people including his mother are known to have approached Manny to convince him to respect marriage vows because he was openly discrediting his family (Oshiogwemoh, 1).

But he ignored the advice and concentrated in fulfilling the desires of the flesh. In an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), Manny confessed that he would attend church on Sunday while Monday to Saturday he would be drinking with his many women and friends. He also confirms that he was fond of profanities and participating in adultery.
Manny Pacquiao says he quit his wayward manners after God talked to him in the presence of two angels a phenomenon that marked the beginning of his strong religious life. Various activities indicate that indeed Manny is a changed man. First, since his encounter with God, Manny has cultivated a routine of holding biblical discussions with his coach. He also fond of hosting Bible studies at his house which are attended by his church mates, family, and friends. Besides, Manny basis his faith on the principle of helping the poor in the society which is also a strong pointer that Manny is an ardent follower of Christ. Manny has personally funded construction of over 1000 houses for the less affluent in his country (Oshiogwemoh, 1). Besides, in several instances, Manny has dished out cash to the poor in his hometown. Lastly, Manny regularly participates in various Christian based conferences both in the Philippines and abroad where he gives talks and sermons which are vital for the conversion of others. Nevertheless, Manny should come out to clear on his position on the issue of LGBT and the Christian teaching on accommodating others and being judging others on their way of life. He is known for his infamous stance on gay people whereby he equated them with animal something that was criticized by many.
In conclusion, Manny attributes his success both in and out of the field to his relationship with God. Manny committed to working and living for Christ and indeed through his actions to help the poor; one can attest that he is a real testimony.
