Modernism between 1900 and 1950
Introduction
Change is part of the human life. Everyday people experience changes in their way of life and how they do their things. To manage to be on par with other individuals in the society, one has to adjust to the different changes. The changes are the modern stuff, such that we do things differently from the past. The modernization of different things has made the way of life much easier. The changes have been brought about by the technology that people have embraced over the years. This paper addresses the theme of modernism between 1900 and 1950. It will explain the subject by discussing the period of the modernism, the characteristics of the innovation and how different fields were affected by the fashion.
Discussion
The Civil War and the World War have a lot to do with the modernism. During the great war of the Western Civilization, many people were devastated and disillusioned. The situations they found themselves in acted as an accelerator to deepen their modernist thinking. Modernization had come, and it was a real time of change.
There are several characteristics associated with the modernism. Some of them include; there were much irony and self-consciousness social and usual conventions, the narration was done by fragmenting and internalizing, or using different points of view/ several perspectives. Others were in realistic fiction, the time was nonlinear or time conventions distorted, the reality was fragmented and destabilized, by having an interior perception/ internalizing, and fragmenting reality were unified.

Wait! modernism between 1900-1950 paper is just an example!

There were also new or refashioned mythical or classical forms, there was much primitivism, indirect references were quite frequent, realistic details, reappearing of the gothic in fleeting or broken forms as well as isolation and eccentricity were also standard.
The characteristics are therefore evident in different ways. For instance, the modernizing of the gothic influences is quite noticeable from the architecture. It is evident in the design of some buildings such as the Casa Vicens in Barcelona, Casa Batillo, and the ParcGuel. The structure used in these buildings is modified compared to the architecture of buildings from other years. Just from looking at the buildings, one can clearly see how the gothic touch was applied to the building. In most of these buildings, the Gothic touch appears in the fleeting form.
From the modern art, there are a lot of changes to the artworks in the modernizing era. The music, paintings, dance, and literature have all changed from the past. The different forms of art take distinctive features. As for the documentation, modernist poetry was marked by the use of symbols, interrupting narratives, internalizing meaning, and streaming consciousness. From the modern classical music, the characteristics were adapting folk melodies, experimenting with rhythm and tone. As for the modern painting, they were characterized by representation, where art was used to signify a particular thing or message, the use of conflicted interiors and pure forms, distorting and fragmenting.
Art has been done for different reasons and motives in the past. Some people do it simply as a source of income, others since it’s a talent and passion they have for doing the same while others use it to pass certain messages. During this period, art was used for political reasons. For instance, a country like Germany used art to for a particular picture of their own. They wanted people to view Germany as a pure country; a country where land shaped the people, and unstained by the typical modern industrial culture. The Nazi Party did this after winning the elections in 1933 to hide the aggression, hypocrisy and the destitution of the power. They used both art and architecture to achieve building the myth.
Anytime there is a new campaign on a certain issue, those who are for the campaign try to sell their ideas to others. They do this to have more people buy their idea. In the same way, there are those who marketed the modernism idea. This strategy was mostly applied in the literature section. At the time, most people never read literal works for pleasure. The publishing houses, however, convinced individuals that the story was one of the most exciting stories in modern history. People were initially afraid of reading the books for pleasure. They thought that the literal works were hard to understand. Some people decided to give it a shot and discovered that the liked the works better. The elaboration of the works’ clarity stirred up their urge to keep reading other literal works. That is how the publishing houses managed to market the modern fiction and how they had different writers make more sales and the books as bestsellers at the time. From then, the managed to convince their readers to buy more serious books rather than only those that they read for pleasure.
In America, during the time, there was much growth in Science and Technology. Most people at the time were able to access electricity. They purchased modern appliances that helped them make their work easier in their homes and also communication easier and faster. There was the bringing of mass popular culture into being with the numerous recording devices, music playing devices, radio as well as motion pictures. The American industrial structure, national topography, and ordinary people’s mobility transformed. It was all a result of automobiles being more affordable to the Americans.
Scientifically, it was during this time that the scientists made numerous discoveries. The discoveries made included the shape and size of the universe. There was also a development on the nature of space and time. These discoveries, however, created a rift between scientists and the literary intellectuals. The divisions caused by Science, as a discipline, was a result of Science having specialization. The ordinary people, therefore, didn’t understand the different discoveries. They also assumed the discoveries to be irrelevant to them.
Conclusion
Times change and things get better with the changes. The period of change also has certain characteristics that differentiate it from the periods and the changes that occurred during other periods. Modernism had its features as well. The characteristics also brought about change to different fields such as the music, literature, dance, and paintings. The uses of arts also became diverse during the period. Therefore, to remain relevant in any particular field, one needs to keep up with the changes taking place in the area they belong. There were also several scientific discoveries made during the period. Technological changes took place also through the same period. The changes helped humans in making communication and work easier. It is also evident that just like any other field, modernism or change can be advertised to make it popular among people.
