Money
During my childhood, there was one phrase that I always heard from the people, and it left me confused “Money makes the world go round.” Every time I heard this sentence I tried to figure out how money can make the world go round. Sometimes, I would try to ask my parents to explain, but the only response I could get was, “do not worry kid someday you will understand it.” Furthermore, though I would not insist, I never settled for the answer and hoped for the day when I will be able to interpret what it means. It was not until in the past few years when I started reflecting on the same issue and understood the whole idea is about how significant money is in the world. Everything we do in our lives mostly if not always revolves around money. In as much as people say money is the source of all evils in the globe, it is also a key to happiness.
In the whole of my childhood, the phrase never made sense until a few years ago when I was already grown up and lost my first job. When I was working, I had a stable income and had lots of people who loved my company, and we would spend most of the time together especially during the weekends and holidays when we were not working. My phone would never stop ringing, and sometimes, it would be irritating since I never had time for myself and had to ignore some calls once in a while. In other words, life was good, and it was like I was holding all the cards of happiness in my hands since I had money and could make the choices of what in life.

The situation, however, changed when I got a letter telling me that my services were no longer needed at the place I was working since the company was shutting down. At first, I never thought it was a big deal since I already had savings and would find another job within no time. The job that I had thought would come easily did not happen, and soon I was broke. It did not take long before my so-called friends realized that I would not afford my expenses in the places we used to visit and one after another they started disappearing. My phone stopped ringing, and I was all alone facing my money issues without any way to help me. It was this time I realized that money makes the world go round.
In summary, with the most recent money problems that I had, I feel like I now understand a lot why money can stop the world from going round. When I had cash, everything seemed to be moving, and even at some point, I felt like days were moving too fast especially during the weekend when I was having fun with my friends. However, when lost my job and I became broke, I never knew what day it was since every day seemed to be like the previous one and there was nothing to look forward to. I was no longer receiving calls and neither did I have any appointments to keep. In other words, my life had stopped moving, and I felt like I was all alone in this big world. In short, though I have so far recovered, I think I now know that without money everything goes to a standstill.
