Money and the American dream
Laura Adams is not only a writer but also a host of one of the most watched show the money girl podcast. On the subject of money, Adams says that most people don’t know how to use the money they have. According to her, being rich does not necessarily mean that you invest millions of shillings in a business. Good ideas are more important than a big capital to start a business. Morgan Ricks is an Associate Professor of Law at Vanderbilt College and a writer of many books on finance. According to him, money can be a solution to many of our problems but only if utilized well. In order to be successful in life, we have to start by managing the little money we have. Billy Graham said that money cannot make you happy however much we try to find it. There is no wrong in having money.
The American dream is a firm belief that every individual regardless of class, race, gender or the country of birth can rise and be successful in America. The similarity between the three writers on money issues is that money can make a difference in one’s life if it is utilized well. However, I believe that the American dream today is based on happiness, success, and money. Therefore, I believe that money is tied to the American dream. In order for Americans to be happy, they need money to make them comfortable.
The main theme of this short story is isolation and alienation.

In the story, Jerry is alienated from his new friend Peter and perhaps the rest of the world. Approaching Peter means that he needs someone to talk to. Peter is not interested in the talk “Hm?… What?… I’m sorry, were you talking to me?”. The Zoo Story is a meeting coincidence between two young people.
Peter is a young successful man working in a publishing company. He decides to take a rest in the Central Park. While there he is met by Jerry, a young disillusioned man. Jerry seems to have lost hope in life. Although Peter is not interested in talking to Jerry, they eventually start a conversation.
Although the two young men are almost same age, they have very little in common. Each of the two men has his problems. In the end, they realize that they need each other despite their differences. Their differences seem to be the reason they sit down and start a conversation. The narrative is a true reflection of what is happening in the society today (Reitspiesová, 12).
The diamond as Big as the Ritz, is an interesting adventure of John Unger who is sent by his parents to have education. While in his new university he is invited to spend the summer with a rich family. The new family is interesting to him because of what they possess. However, he still believed that his father is the richest man around “”My father,” he said, “is by far the richest man in the world.” From the story, apart from the extravagance and fantasy, there is betrayal, selfishness and beauty. We need to accept the fact that money at times can make us go astray (Fitzgerald, 3).
