Matilda Character Analysis
The character of Matilda in the movie “Matilda” Roald Dahl can be analyzed using the trait theory which is the study of the personalities of human beings by measuring their traits. Traits, in this case, can be said to be the habitual patterns of emotion, thought, and behavior. Matilda is portrayed as a young girl who is brilliant but is not appreciated by her family. The plot of the movie follows her life as she does her best to get back at the grown-ups who made her life and those of her friends difficult, who were her headmistress and her parents.
One character displayed by Matilda is that she has a precocious brain. She is portrayed as being very smart, as she is very good at math and reading, as goes to the extent of learning how to solve complex problems in her head. She is seen to be so intelligent, far beyond what is expected of children her age. Despite being very intelligent, Matilda remains humble. This is seen when the narrator says that the good thing about Matilda is that if anyone met her, he or she would quickly take her for an average five-year-old child as she did not display any outward signals of her intelligence and never bragged about it (DeVito et al.).
Another trait that adds to the character of Matilda is fairness. Matilda even though young, has her intact moral code which is made of strong ideas concerning what is wrong and right. For example, when she was accused of inserting the newt in water by the Trunchbull, her reactions reaffirm this character.

Wait! movie character personality paper is just an example!

Her reaction showed that she did not mind of being accused of something that she had done. This is because she saw the justice of it, but it was an intense experience to her of being falsely accused of committing a crime. Her sense of justice is seen in the fact that in the case of unjust accusations, she takes the initiative and punishes those who treat others, including her wrongly.
