Introduction

Moorish influence on Spain’s culture is reflected in language, architecture and music. Muslims were responsible for important cultural innovations, such as alchemy, algebra, chess, zero idea, etc. The Moriscos arrived at the Iberian Peninsula in 711 by the orders of Commander Tariq Ibn Ziyad. 

Muslim domain has infiltrated all the country’s cultural aspects. The Arabs have left their brand in all aspects of Spanish culture as much as the cultures of Latin America. The combination of Latin The language of the Romans and Arabic language has resulted in a hybrid language. Arabic influenced the Spanish language that we speak today. 

Spanish retains many words that have origin in Arab voices that have been adapted to our language. It is estimated that more than 4.000 words of Spanish are of Arab origin. Since 711, a mixture of Arab and Latin languages occurred in the Iberian Peninsula. This linguistic mixture has left a great cultural impact.

Moorish influence is very evident in architecture. The Alhambra de Granada is known as one of the most beautiful Muslim structures in the world.

Since we examine Arabic influence on cultural aspects in Spain and the Hispanic world we can conclude that this cultural mix led many innovations in the world of science, art, architecture and music and language. Although the Arab conquest was completed by the Catholic Monarchs Carlos and Isabela, in these times we can still observe the legacy that the Arabs have left on the Iberian Peninsula as much as the culture and the language of Latinos.
