There are a few ideas that I would share with the 60-year-old patient that would aid in maintaining her cognitive abilities. Besides the diet and physical exercise regime, I would recommend to the patient to continually engage her brain since mental exercise is perfect for one’s cognitive wellbeing. Consequently, the patient could participate in mind games such as playing cards or watching football games with friends and family. Moreover, the other idea would be ensuring that the patient maintains a social life. Keeping an active social life would not only boost the cognitive abilities but also help in setting a good mood for the patient (Park 110). For instance, the patient could sign up for books of sports clubs to enjoy the company of friends while refreshing her mind. As a result, the patient is likely to be free from stress which would pose a threat to the cognitive wellbeing of the patient. Ultimately, the final idea for the patient would be sufficient rest to improve her concentration and attention abilities. However, the patient should be keen to avoid caffeinated drinks, smoking, and too much food before bedtime.
The information I would want to inquire from the patient would be the precise type and components of supplementation the patient was taking. Nonetheless, for dietary supplements, I would investigate the types of meals the patient was consuming and whether they were nutritionally fit for improving her cognitive sharpness.
