1. What was the most interesting about Ms. Martinez and her work?
The most exciting thing about Ms. Martinez is her determination and resiliency to stay focused despite the challenging circumstances. She keeps on learning new ideas despite the odds and cultural traditions. She was able to learn through difficult situations whereby she could build strength and confidence when undergoing through challenging conditions and overcoming diversity challenges. Besides, the most exciting thing about her is that she emphasizes on mentoring girls and women so that they may focus about positivity instead of looking issues from a negative perspective. Thus, she believes that coming from an underserved community or being a woman cannot prevent one from succeeding in life.
The most exciting thing about the work of Ms. Martinez is that she works to change the rules which are against the disadvantaged in society. In her oceanic career, she works to find and encourage the incoming scientists from diverse backgrounds. Therefore, she utilizes her work to help the community as a whole.
2. What did you learn about the kind of work that Ms. Martinez does?
Ms. Martinez does a challenging work which involves changing strategies to succeed. The job consists in performing various roles like logistics, operations of the sea, and outreach which explores all regions in the ocean (Hammond et al. 88). Additionally, the work utilizes technology in researching the sea using vessels.

The question I can ask Ms. Martinez is how she did manage to build resiliency in her own life and how she managed to overcome obstacles while pursuing her studies and when working. Besides, I will ask her about what motivates her in doing her work.
4. What do these readings tell you about the types of people that can become scientists?
According to the readings, the people who become scientists are those who desire to learn new ideas by overcoming cultural odds and other obstacles which may hinder one from achieving his or her dreams. People from diverse backgrounds can become scientists provided they work hard in their education. Thus, people from different economic backgrounds, ages, and cultures can become scientists.
