Geology is fundamentally a field science. It is a discipline which involves a lot of activities that are done in the lab and produced by computer software as geographical maps. Before a thorough analysis is conducted, geographical information is first taken from the field. Important geological data is retrieved from preferred field locations which have been identified by investigating geologists. In geology, field methods may be split into four broad categories: getting samples, marking and analyzing their location; evaluating and recording strata altitude; dimension (width and height) evaluation; and lastly, production of topographic and geologic maps.
Conversely, art is a subject that is primarily interested in the culture of humans as opposed to technical or scientific subjects such as geology. Moreover, it is concerned with the application of creative imagination and skills mostly by away of a visual medium such as painting or sculpture. The methodologies used in this discipline are qualitative.

Geological Investigation of Old Town Site

The purpose of this paper is to utilize critical methods in Geology, Arts and History to propose clear methods of designing a unified theme for the creation of an “old town” historic district in my city. Since the town will be built on the hillside region, proper geological investigation must be conducted in this area; it is also known that hillside region is an area of intense fault activities and therefore, before the construction activities of “old town” commence, both geotechnical investigations and engineering geological investigations must be carried down by the experts.

Wait! Old Town Site Investigation paper is just an example!

The geotechnical review is required prior to construction of old town to certify that geotechnical design plans and recommendations meet the least required standards. Moreover, the review is necessary for the town to safeguard properties within the mapped fault hazard zones and seismic hazard zones (Ng & Shi, 1998). The following steps must be strictly followed during geological investigation process:
The town must keep geotechnical consultants to prepare the report.
2 Copies of the report must be submitted to the town clerk along with the city plan.
Geotechnical consultants hired by the town should be allowed approximately 12 working days to review the report and provide their suggestion.

When necessary revisions are needed, the town geotechnical consultants and the town engineer should consult and provide further direction concerning the extra work needed.

How Art Plays a Vital Role in Old Town

The old town simply refers to a city with rich history; such cities house state historic sites, archaic sites that are still surviving as well as other historic sites. For a town to gain “old town” status the first step is to carry out an intensive town survey; this survey will aim at reviewing social and economic state of the citizens who dwell in the city and its environs; moreover, the survey will be a valuable tool for analysing the state of city buildings (Cohen, 1972). Questionnaires may be used to conduct art survey in the old town; each building in the city should have its own questionnaire that will capture: age of the building, overall state of the building, noticeable defects, useful info regarding inhabitants, family history and lastly their income.

An important factor in geometric design will be the geometric art of the buildings in the city, outdoor paints, exterior and interior design of city buildings, the presence of monuments and sculptures in old town streets. These artistic structures must conform to political, economic, and social activities of the people; moreover, paintings on the building should reflect the time when the most political, economic, and social activities took place.
