Organizational Research Methods
The updates are important in research for enhancing the understanding of the application of the new methods in management and the organizational research. The Organizational Research Methods consolidate the various methodological developments that are relevant to the researchers in the research fields. This write-up focuses on the description of an empirical paper done by Fisher, Matthews, and Gibbons entitled, “Developing and Investigating the Use of Single-Item Measures in Organizational Research.”
Statistical Inference
Three studies were conducted to test the multiple-scale and the single-scale. First, in testing significance within the single-item, t-test at P< 0.5 significance was used to test for the variables in the existing and new single-items from the SME ratings. Secondly, the validation of the content was done using the paired t-test for the existing and new items. Thirdly, the other sources were evaluated to test if they could provide evidence using mean and standard deviation.
Results and Conclusion
The existing items showed better reliability regarding the internal consistency and the convergent validity. However, the new items demonstrated to be higher in content validity. The multiple-item demonstrated to provide more useful information than the single-item measures. Therefore, single-item is used to shorten the time and not as primary research measure (Fisher, Matthews & Gibbons, 2016).

Wait! Organizational Research Methods paper is just an example!

The scientific method brought out its use in the measurement of the variables. First, the method gave a clear picture of the variables within the single-item measurement; the existing and new items. Secondly, the comparison of the single and multiple-item made the researchers offer recommendations to the organizational researchers. For example, the use of single-item is an alternative and moderator instead of its use as the main or primary construct in the research. Other studies have demonstrated negligible variance (Bergkvist, 2015).
