Step Description
Step 1 Dorothy feels the need to make a call to a doctor as she doesn’t feel well. She takes her phone and calls a doctor so that she can schedule an appointment with a doctor.
Step 2 She will receive an email or any message sent by the hospital electronically, to conform to her about appointments details.
Step 3 On the day of the appointment, Dorothy has to show up at the hospital sometime earlier before the set up to so that she can confirm her appointment details. E.g., her name, age among others (Husebye, 2014).
Step 4 She is then supposed to fill a form. In the form, she will write about her medical history and the reason that brings her to see a doctor.
Step 5 After she completes filling in the details in the form, a nurse at the hospital will take her and measure her height and weight which she will in turn records in Dorothy’s system.
Step 6 SOAP notes will then be analyzed by the nurse who will help her review and clarify Dorothy’s symptoms
Step 7 The doctor will then undertake an examination using the SOAP notes, review on Dorothy’s medical history and symptoms that she is experiencing will also be put into consideration.

After going through all the review, the doctor will ascertain her diagnosis.
Step 8 Dorothy’s EHR will be used to perform her treatment, and the doctor will send her prescription to her. Her prescription will be determined by her medical history so that the doctor will know about any negative reaction from the prescribed medication. After sending over the prescription, a pharmacy code is keyed in for billing. The doctor then confirms and sign the next visit.
Step 9 In case a laboratory work is to be undertaken, Dorothy will be mandated to give the lab specimen.
Step 10 Additional education is issued by the doctor to help Dorothy better understand her condition.
Step 11 If more scan and tests need to be conducted, Dorothy will have to be physically present.
Step 12 Lab work will be reviewed if Dorothy was sent for further tests. Her information will then be sent electronically into Dorothy’s system.
