People like us Tammy story
The story of Tammy reflects the situation of low-class families in the American class system. In 1999, Tammy and her two sons were living in a small container house with minimal provisions. She was working at Burger King as a cleaner and her sons were out of school and unemployed. Fourteen years later, the situation of Tammy and her sons remain the same. Even though they had moved out of the container house, they were still living in poverty (The CNAM Channel). The situation of Tammy and her sons shows the reality of the vicious cycle of poverty that plagues the American social class system. It is unfortunate that the rich gain more wealth over the years while the poor people continue to wallow in poverty. Matt and Bo have limited opportunities in life because they did not acquire good educational qualifications. They depend on temporary jobs to earn a living. The two brothers also have families to support but they do not have the resource to provide quality life to them. Therefore, it is likely that even their children will grow up in poverty and remain poor in adult life.
Only a few people in the United States achieve their dreams by climbing the social ladder. For many people like Tammy, they only aspire to become reach but lack the wherewithal to do so. The fact that they do not have good qualification and networks condemns them to the lower class of the social class system. Nonetheless, there is always a slim chance that an individual from the lower class can realize the American dream.
