Studies have revealed that different physical exercises may help in controlling the risk of some health problems such as cancer, diabetes, and obesity. Doing exercises decreases the body fatness, hence has a beneficial impact on the risk of colorectal cancer possibly because it results in a reduction in insulin resistance. Moreover, loss of weight of between lowers the incidence of obesity, which is closely associated with Type 2 Diabetes.
In 2015, cancer contributed to the deaths of 8.8 million people, making it the second leading cause of deaths globally. A study predicted that in 2018, 609,640 Americans would die from cancer, which translates to about 1670 deaths every day (Rutledge, Lane, Merlo, & Elmi, 2018). Besides, the worldwide obesity since 1975 has almost tripled. In the number of people aged 18 years and above who were reported overweight were over 1.9 billion. Out this, more than 650 million adults were obese (Rutledge et al., 2018). Obesity has been associated with mortality factors like type 2 diabetes. The number of diabetic adults living in the US has continued to rise. Specifically, in 2015 about 9.4% of US residents had diabetes.
As a nurse, I would conduct health literacy programs to assist clients with health promotion measures. In these programs, I would duel on physical exercise and how it helps in reducing different health risks. I would use printed materials like pamphlets, and diagrams to provide guidance on physical activities.

Some recommended physical activities include everyday activities like cycling or walking, active recreational activities like dancing and sports activities like training at the gym, football, and swimming. As explained by Min and Stephens (2015), young people of between 5-18 years should involve at least 60 minutes of moderate or vigorous physical exercise every day. On the other hand, adults aged 19- 64 years should engage in a vigorous or moderate-intensity physical exercise for at least 150 minutes and vigorous physical activity lasting for at least 10 minutes in a day. To gain cooperation from the clients, I would create a welcoming environment to win their trust, use basic language for easy understanding and encourage questions so that they can seek clarifications on unclear points.
