Reports on police brutality reflect states of political unrest in societies where laws that protect citizens from police violence are inexistent or hardly enforced. Police violence in Israel is widely documented as law enforcement officers are continually reacting to violent conflicts and terrorist activities (Haberfeld & Cerrah, 2007). In theory, one can conclude that sometimes in the course of maintaining order in violent disputes, civilians who are innocent are harmed. However, according to the report (Amnesty International, 2014), innocent killings might not be the case. The most surprising thing is that police officers kill unarmed children. Sadly, people as young as 16 take part in demonstrations, which attracts the attention of the police.
As I read through the report, I could feel the saddening battles of a struggling democracy. The people cry out to be heard, but the result is violent demonstrations. Law enforcement units, while doing their mandate to contain protests and combat terrorism, end up killing innocent citizens, including children. The struggle is a constant battle to death. Demonstrators cry out for help against murder and end up being killed. The police probably deal with so much violence that their sense of humanity disappears altogether.
The actions by the police indicate that the Palestinian citizens are unwelcome in Israel. Police violence might be fueled by the state to cripple such societies.

In West Bank, Palestinians continue to suffer from state-induced actions including demolitions, evictions, and the 700km wall that is intended to seclude them (Amnesty International, 2014). Despite the presence of international laws that protect demonstrators, the Palestinians receive no support from the government. Instead, the state appears to fuel unlawful police acts. The police continue to treat Palestinian citizens as second-class citizens. The Palestinians receive violent treatment from the state that is meant to protect them.
