Mathematics is one of the key subjects in the school curriculum that links an individual to significant opportunities in life. Mathematics is longer viewed as just a language of science but as a fundamental way that contributes directly to the success of various fields of business, for instance, finance and health (Torpey, 2012). For example, mathematics benefits students, nations, and citizens. Students benefit through competency which is a vital virtue for career development, and Citizens can make an informed decision for daily transactions and business and nations gain knowledge, skills, and workforce which enable them to compete in technological society. The power of mathematics should be tapped across all sectors to foster world development.
There is a need to experience mathematical ideas in their naturally occurring context to accept their importance, that is, from counting and measurement to their application in business and daily life. Calculators and computers are some of the tools that make the mathematics application more realistic and simple. The mathematical problems serve as a motivational source for me because it engages my interests and aspiration (National Research Council., 2000). Additionally, mathematical problems boost my critical thinking through being the source of meaning and understanding. A task that has a meaning becomes a source of motivation as compared to other works (Brualdi, 2018).

In conclusion, knowledge and skills gained from mathematics are applicable on a daily basis in my life. Am always able to volunteer to conduct store operations such as cost analysis, customer preference research, and other analysis. Calculating rates of exchange for foreign currency as compared to local currency is also an important area that facilitates daily transactions. Estimation is another skill derived from mathematics (Zyga, 2013). Individuals think of mathematics as a set of rules yielding exact answers; however it is vital to have a rough check of the size of the expected response to ensure the accuracy of the calculation. For example, a certain store had once charged me twice for the same item; however, through my estimation skills, I was able to detect.
