The lion considered himself the King of the jungle and wanted every other animal to know about it. He liked to walk around the grasslands roaring whenever he saw other animals passing by to make them see how mighty he was.
“I am the greatest there has ever been! King of Kings.” Roared the lion making all the other animals bow down for him in fear.
It was a hot afternoon and the lion headed to the watering pond and upon seeing his own image reflected in the water he was amazed by how a magnificent creature he was. He began thinking to himself that he is a very noble and beautiful creature to be ever created. He kept drooling over his image for hours and eventually decided that he was going to show all his subjects that he was their leader and every inch of his body a King.
He wore his royal robes with medals both gold and silver and finally crowned his head with heavy jewelry. He stood out from the rest although the clothes were cumbersome. He sent out a word to all his subjects to come to his palace to admire how a fine creature he was.
“I am the greatest there has ever been! King of Kings.” Roared the lion
Among the animals was a tiny beetle who kept singing
“I may be small and little outside but big like a tree on the inside!”
Upon seeing the beetle, the lion ordered him to kneel bow down before his king to which the beetle said:
“I am bowing but being small I doubt if you can see it from up there!” to which the lion agreed and decided to lean over to see for himself.

His clothing’s being so heavy he toppled down the hill into a muddy water ditch. The lion ran away from shame and never came back.
Moral lesson. Pride comes before a fall.
