Racism: Main Discussion Points
The underlying topic advanced in Tuskegee Study revolves around revealing the acts of racism which took place during the research on untreated syphilis in the USA. The research was conducted in 1932 by (USPHS) which stands for United State Public Health service. In essence, the article criticizes the manner in which the research was carried out in that it failed because it was done without putting into consideration the sociological context of the experiment. The participants infected with syphilis, for instance, were deceived so that they could come to great numbers to the research centers (Allan 21).
Results Consequences of the Study
Notably, the scientists who conducted the research imparted more harm to innocent Africa-American people who were both economically and socially unstable. In particular, the U.S government deceived the people and withheld from them the treatment which was fundamental to their lives. The Tuskegee study began by using painful injections to the participants who were made up of arsenic elements. When the use of penicillin came into practice, the doctors withheld the use of the products hence most of the syphilis patients died as a result. The infected men later passed the effect of syphilis to their partners due to lack of treatment. Therefore, the harm was not limited to the people registered to the research only. The research protocol was entirely disregarded hence the lives of the participants were in jeopardy despite the fact the men were deceived on the consequences of the study

The reason behind the argument against the replication is that the research was marred by racism and lack of humanitarian rights. The participants, for instance, were promised treatment for syphilis but at the end, they were not given any treatment. Moreover, there was partiality and in discrimination pertaining the people who were enrolled in the research. Notably, the Africans-Americans only selected for the torturous study. Consequently, given that the world today is governed by the constitution and human rights law, the Tuskegee Study cannot be replicated (Freimuth, Vicki, et al. 2001).
Reasons Why the Research Was Unethical
Firstly, the participants of the study were drawn from African-American population only while the white people were not include given that the outcomes of the survey were not encouraging .secondly, the patients were denied the access to the treatment so that the researchers could study the historical progress of the disease. Thirdly, the participants in the study were not provided with the purpose of the research, description of their health condition and most importantly the information on the information on the availability of treatment from the 1940s.As a result, the information was not ethical since it flawed all the health requirements of the patients.
Conflict in the Essay
Conflict develops in the essay in that the information and service provided by the researchers are contrary to the expectations of the patients. In the article, the USA government was supposed to give treatment to the syphilis patients after conducting a research .however, to come up with effective treatment, the researchers had to withhold the treatment at the beginning so that they can study the historical development of the disease. Withholding the information led to the dead of several patients ( Allan 18).

The action of researchers to withhold the treatment of syphilis to the patients hampers objectives sociology in the country. Moreover, lack of fairness in selecting the participants in the Tuskegee Study shows that the discrimination is one the social elements which are affecting the government (Allan 20)
