The Declaration of Independence (1776) and George Orwell’s Animal Farm (1945) depict a typical situation that countries under oppressive governance experience leading to the rebellion of the citizens for freedom and happiness. In this study, the two materials are analyzed to understand the roles individuals have in restoration of their rights. In no doubt, both the declaration of independence and Orwell’s Animal Farm shows that people always have the ability to make their own decisions.
In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson explains that all men are created equal, and there exist unalienable rights that the government should protect. However, he expressed that in case of government’s failure to protect these rights, it is both right and the duty of people to overthrow such government (US 1776). The same case occurred in “Animal Farm” where animals revolted against Mr. Jones for their freedom. According to the animals in the Orwell’s story “Man serves the interests of no creature except himself” (5). A similar case that Jefferson pointed out about the British dictators that exploited its colonies in the US. Therefore, Jefferson called for the rebellion and unity of the 13 territories into the US. Both the Orwell’s Animal farm and Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence inspires people’s revolutionary actions in creation for new freedom and happiness.
However, and based on the stories, the government can make decisions on behalf of its people.

Wait! Rebellion paper is just an example!

In the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson accuses the King of Britain for the dictatorship through which he abused the rights to self-government and for the fair Justice (US 1776). This situation is well captured in Orwell’s Animal Farm story in which the pigs take over leadership and exploit others through dictatorship. Here, and it is evident that pigs eventually became selfish and almost imitated their original master (Mr. Jones) they drove away. All the previously formed animalism was adjusted to fulfill the interests of the pigs in leadership.
Both Orwell and Jefferson wanted to pass the message that “All men were created equal,” (US 1776) and therefore, people deserves chances in governance or policymaking. They understand better their rights as citizens among other problems facing them. A Similar point is noted in the animal farm where they all agree, “All animals are equal” (Orwell 21) and make the animalism commandments. As long as the government is unable to respect and protects these rights, people have the right to protest for their freedom and protection. The reason for this is that although the government can make decisions for its people, such systems of government experiences complex hardships. This is seen by the problems that lead to the rebellion against the Britain masters who imposed heavy taxes on colonies, instituted laws without people’s approval, closed free trade and eliminated the right to trial as it sought to benefit itself.
In brief, people can make their own choices so that they can protect their freedom and wellbeing. Both the Declaration of independence and the Orwell’s “Animal Farm” reveals that when the authority fails to protect its citizens, it is not only right but also a duty of the citizens to rebel against such exploitative governments.
