I concur with Goldsworthy that the main reason why God created us is to glorify, praise and worship Him. Disobedience from Adam and Eve made sin to be introduced into the world, but due to his merciful nature, God gave his only begotten son to come and die for our sins. He never wanted us to suffer eternally. It is because of His love that he allowed Jesus to come and suffer the punishment that was meant for the humankind. We can call this as qualities of a good leader.
According to Albert Mohler on his teachings of 25 teachings for leadership that matters, he says that a true leader should be ready to forego or sacrifice everything for the ones he loves to make them happy and satisfied in every encounter in their lives (Mohler 2012, 94). Mohler uses his experience to show that leadership is a process of transferring of conviction to others. A leader should be able to influence the actions of his followers, motivate them, and be committed to offering service to his people. This is exactly what God did by giving us His only son to come and die for our sins. As a good leader, He loved us and could not want us to suffer anymore. As humans, we have been given a chance to follow the leadership principles of God included in the Bible or we leave our own lives.
I agree with you that a true leader should not just tell people what to do or behave but should lead by example and be on the front line in condemning the wrongdoings of his people.

Wait! Replies paper is just an example!

Jesus during his teachings did not just tell people what to do, but he also showed them practically and that sets a good example that we all should follow.

I agree with you that a leader should be able to humble oneself in offering services to others and guiding them through so that they can be able to effectively run other activities within their premises. To be a good leader, you need to have God’s intervention who will help you to lead your people in the right way. You should make the teachings of the gospel your tool while interacting with people. This post mentions that leaders should use the gospel to guide them in making wise decisions and as a blueprint on how you should carry yourself as a leader. Mohler in his book says that leadership has been taken for granted and this has caused many people to be led in the wrong direction since many of today’s leaders do not understand their convictions, which they should use to lead their life (Mohler 2012, 98). The author states that unless you read the Bible and understand its teachings, it would be hard for you to understand your convictions.
Mohler says that leadership has been misunderstood and he wrote this book to change the mind of the readers and help them get a better understanding of how one should practice leadership. It is true to form your post that many leaders have only focused on some parts of the Bible that suit them but they fail to understand that Bible is interconnected and one verse leads to the other. If a leader wants to be fully equipped with what is required of them, they need to take the Bible as a whole otherwise they will lead without a full conviction of the truth. Leadership is a calling, and if you are called, you should allow the power of the Holy Spirit to work within you so that you can lead the people according to God’s will.

I like how you have explained Biblical theology from Goldsworthy’s perspective. Bible which contains the word of God is not just a book whose content should be taken directly as quoted. It requires God’s intervention to read and understand the message that God wanted to pass through. To understand every concept of the Bible, you need to come to Jesus Christ first and know Him, and then from there, you can understand the message He communicates in the Bible. In the book of 2 Cor. 4:4 the Bible says that the mind of all those who don’t believe in God will be blinded so that they may not see the glory of Christ. This is to mean that if you want to see God’s hand and favor, you need to come close to His teachings and abide by what they say. God opens the mind of the believers to understand the biblical theology and have a better grasp of the word of God.
In his first part of the book, Goldsworthy explains how it is important to have the discipline of biblical theology. Bible interpretation is not a simple task since nearly every reading of the bible is contested (Goldsworthy 2002, 104). As Christians, we need God’s intervention to make a sound conclusion to the passage from the scripture of God. Some leaders have misinterpreted the bible and mislead the people simply because they are not attached with God to have the divine intervention.
