Research problem
The study had its focus in finding whether exposure to stress in early life has any impacts that recur later in life hence contributing to higher risks of psychopathology in both humans and mice.
Research questions
The question that needs priority in finding the answer is the extent orphanage experiences in early life impact the emotions and behavior of the orphaned population. The second research question that this study aimed at answering is whether the long-term consequences of exposure to stress in early life are reversible later in life. Lastly, the study aimed at finding out whether the results exhibited by rodents will replicate what is expected in the human population.
Importance of the research
The research is important since it tries to find a link between research carried out in animals and tries to establish whether the study results apply to the human population. It would lack importance to carry out research but find out that the results have no relationship to people. Further, if the research applies to humans, then the findings can enable the researchers to come up with solutions to the challenges facing humanity especially on matters pertaining stress. The research further promotes proper parental care to prevent the likelihood of exposing children to stress factors. Lastly, the research carried out tries to explain how exposing human beings to stress in early life is likely to impact their behavior and emotions in the future hence creating the need to eliminate the stress factors in early life.

Methods used
The study was conducted using mice of both genders placed in conditions that did not violate the welfare of the animals. Male and female were bred and the litters subjected to stress conditions at an early age. The study further used children below the age of eleven years to show how stress factors impact behavior and emotions. MRI scanners were used on the children in the study and information was collected depending on the facial expressions made by the subjects.
Type of research
The study used qualitative research. The research depended on the quality of information such as using facial expressions to determine the impact of stress factors on the children. Further, this research is qualitative since emotions and behavior cannot be quantified but can only be described using quality.
Data analysis
The condition, age, and the experimental group formed the models of the data analysis. Neural correlates further analyzed data. Correlational analyses were conducted on the collected data to come up with findings.
Findings
The mice used in the study showed how stress in early life is likely to impact human beings. The study also established that stress has an impact on the emotions and behavior of both humans and mice. Further, after stress factors have been eliminated, behavioral and emotional consequences cannot be reversed. Therefore, the study established that exposing both mice and humans to stress in the early stages of life negatively impacts on behavior and emotions and these impacts cannot be reversed even after eliminating the stressors.
Improving the research
The size of the study population should be increased. The environmental factors should not be controlled rather the environment should be altered because not all growing conditions are similar. Therefore, changing the environmental factors reduces the possibility of bias since living things are brought up in diverse environments.
