1. Describe the community in which your selected setting is located.
Toledo Lucas County Health Department 60 Plus Senior Program is located in Toledo Lucas has a population of approximately 430,000. Lake Erie borders the county to the north. The administrative center of the county is in Toledo. The female population in the county are 51% of the population. The community members are well educated with over 95% of the adults have passed through high school have a college diploma or higher. The average income for individuals below the age of 45 is approximately $31,000, $41,000 for those between 45 and 64, and $35,000 for those above the age of 65. About 20% of the population in Lucas County is above the age of sixty (Towncharts.com n.p.)
The Toledo Lucas county is more humid than other counties in the state owing to the regulation of climate by Erie Lake. The automotive and glass industry fuels the county’s economy. The healthcare system also plays an essential role in the employment of individuals in the county. The legislators in Toledo City draft the county’s policies. Even though other midwestern counties are mostly republican, Toledo Lucas is a strong republican affiliated community. One of the most significant health challenges that affect the county is water safety. The county’s history shows that contamination of the tap water supplied by the government has been contaminated on various occasions. It led to the development of various infections that led to halting the use for a limited period.

The health system in collaboration with other government agencies has taken multiple steps in the improvement of the quality of water used. They have also set up various monitoring measures to avoid any unnoticed contamination (Interactive City Directory n.p.). The health department has an adequate number in the taskforce to tackle any arising issues receiving support both from the state and federal government’s budget.
