Political Participation
The declining participation in the political field is bound to be problematic to the entire state. Through democracy, new ideas which attribute to development are fostered for the wellbeing of the citizens. This is evident and can vividly be seen during the electioneering period where vote hunting is very competitive. Candidates trade their manifestos to the citizens in a bid to improve their lives. Declining participation means that there is the likelihood of ideas dissolution which would not attract transformative leadership. There are no stringent laws to enforce voting in most states and this could be reason for drastic changes in the voting patterns (U.S. Trails Most Developed Countries in Voter Turnout).
In a bid to ensure that the participation draws interests from citizens, the most preferred strategy would be to engage and encourage citizens to participate in the civic education. Every citizen should be in a position to understand their civic rights and provisions when it comes to governance. This is the avenue to ensure that their advocacy of good leadership and representation is considered by the political class. Through civic communications, citizens get to learn how government operatives work and create self-awareness in relation to the governmental policies. Declining participation could be owed to the fact that the majority of citizens have lost faith in the political classes primarily due to their inability to offer solutions to worldwide challenges such as economic crisis.

While the political movement’s core interests are in representing the citizens and fostering good governance, it would be appropriate introducing leadership and governance subject not only at tertiary education but also in the elementary schools. The knowledge gathered at this stage will promote patriotism and build nationalism spirit (Higgs, 36).
