Everyday Use and The Necklace explore the lives of two women having problems coming to terms with the nature of their lives and are completely disconnected from their families through their flawed view of life which affects their families greatly. Dee is a well-educated lady with a humble background. She is good looking, and her family struggled hard to enable her to go and get a good education. Her strong embrace of African American culture and roots has caused differences with her mother and younger sister. A good example is her request to take the quilt for which she believes putting it in a display would preserve its cultural value. On the other hand, her mother and sister believe the daily use of the quilt is the best way to preserve it. There is a great disconnect between Dee and her family, and it creates major differences between them despite being family (Walker, 1994).
The story of Loisel is associated with economic discontentment because of a dream of the aristocracy. Loisel lives a middle-income life for which she does not get the life she dreams about. However, her needs are gripped with certain greed that drives them to poverty. The necklace for which Losel prices because of its ability to allow her to join the party becomes the source of misery once it gets lost. However, Madame Forestier acknowledges that it was fake despite Loisel and her husband finding a replacement worth 36000 francs (Maupassant, 2018).
The two stories are effective in describing the alienated relationship between the two characters with their families and the society they live in.

Wait! Short Stories paper is just an example!
