Getting to campus means making a big transition in life, moving from high school to college life. There are lots of issues that spring up when it comes to handling and living campus life. This entails moving from a comfort zone to a strange environment where everyone seems strange. It is a life where a freshman has to juggle new friends, new roommates among other new things including peers. While the main reason for each student joining a given college is education, the life of a college student has more than meets the eye.
Campus life can both be a blast and a nightmare. Problems are bound to occur. In case they happen, it is important to get ready for the worst, and everyone has to face the problems as they occur. In case it appears to be a blast, there are common issues that abound and which must be addressed. There are common anxieties that thrill students when it comes to the choice of making new friends. If there are things that students get most anxious about, then it is the choice of their roommates. The thought of whom he or she will be like is a question that perturbs most of these college students (Schneider et al. 30-35).
In college, there is going to be a lot to be done, that is, between classes, social scene, clubs and leisure, the schedule is certainly going to be full. The best thing is that not all the schedules are met once a student sets foot in a college setup. Irrespective of one’s school’s policy on cell phones, the most realistic thing is that most school going students have phones in their pockets, hoodies or even in their purses.

The question is, why not make use of the tool in the right way rather than for evil? Cell phones differ from cart netbooks or computers. Some students have invested a great deal of their time learning features of cell phones, their limitations and how to navigate through its features and apps. Some colleges have banned the use of cell phones, a fact that has attracted so much criticism (Boyer 25).
With the ever advancing technological world, there is an increasing need to embrace a paperless society. This is a real time education that has dwindling budgets, a perfect call for people to rethink new possibilities in the learning sector. Cell phones help in many respects such as recording of lectures, used as student response systems and in delivering teaching materials. Recording of lectures helps students who might need to recapture what they might have lost in the course of the lecture. This is particularly important in taking them through assignments while off classroom (Schneider et al. 30-35).
In delivering materials, cell phone users create a platform upon which teachers and students interact and collaborate in discussions that make a blended learning approach, a real possibility. Apart from classwork, students use cell phones for social interactions. As a matter of fact, teenagers have over the recent past, demonstrated a long-held enthrallment with technology. The trend has continued unabated till the 21st century as students continue spending a good time with cell phones and their computers (Valenzuela et al. 875-901).
College students view both computers and cell phones as an integral part of their day to day lives. The present day use of cell phones has been subjected to some element of a critical tool used to safeguard and maintain social relationships. A survey among US college students established that each student spent at least one hour 40 mins on Facebook. Others use the social platforms like Instagram and tweeters to share on their daily experiences. This makes the use of cell phones and computers popular amongst students for all the good and bad reasons in equal measure.
