TEACHING DIGITAL COMPETENCES AND LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES

Introduction

The 21st century is characterized by the implementation of technology in all environments of our society. ICTs are of great importance to education, as it provides great ease and access to different educational strategies, this can represent a great advantage for both students and teachers, depending on their use.

Explanation of the subject

In 2005, the United Nations International Telecommunications Union recognized the potential of ICT (information and communication technologies) to ‘democratize knowledge (…) and access to information, culture and education’. Trade.

Since then, the use of technology has taken leaps and that on many occasions, we do not know or have no experiences to interpret them; This is our reality, so, in this context we must learn and teach. As education professionals it is very important to be aware that today more than ever we can access a huge amount of information; However, the key to learning is to know how to convert all that information into personal, critical, autonomous, selective knowledge, congruent to the way each distinguishes and experiences the world.

On the other hand and not very distant, the ICTs in the classroom have become recommended to essential, although it is usually tarnished by various limitations, such as the lack of access of technological spaces, ignorance of technological strategies or resistance of theteachers to learn how to use them.

Wait! Teaching Digital Competences And Learning Technologies paper is just an example!

This can trigger a restricted and unsecured learning process for our students.

But what are those digital skills that teachers must have? According to the educational consultant Aonia, led from Spain, they propose 5 digital skills for teachers according to the common European framework and are:

  1. Information information and literacy.
  2. Communication and collaboration
  3. Creation of digital content.
  4. Security
  5. Problem resolution.

For this reason, teachers must seek techno-pedagogical training and update regarding the skills and knowledge of the digital world and thus be able to display our work in a digitized era. With great benefits such as leading the student to new technological challenges that have to live in the present and also in the future.

Advantage

Among the advantages of the use of learning technology, are the following:

  • Improves the quality of learning, because when interacting with other people enriches our capacities and knowledge.
  • Easy access to varied sources of information, which allows you to contrast it and thus develop critical thinking.
  • Learning autonomy, a process that each individual acquires, because it uses their strategies, methods and rules to generate their own learning.
  • Eliminates timely communication barriers between teachers and students, since they can be communicated by various platforms or technological tools.
  • The multiple educational resources to study and work that favor learning self-management.
  • Students can conduct research and get resources at the moments that best fit their schedules from different places and according to their needs.
  • Promote the development of creativity because it offers tools that allow students to interact with information and generate content

Disadvantages

But what disadvantages are behind the constant impulse of the use of technology in learning?

As bubbles mention, ’most people do not warn that their employment implies deliberate actions, elections that could have been other elections that reflected deep and perhaps questionable premises’

According to this premise I present the following disadvantages:

  • Impersonal communication, that is loss of contact with the people involved in the learning process.
  • Decreased privacy.
  • Student distraction at school or school.
  • Excessive dependence among participants in the teaching -learning process, causing addictions, isolation and visual problems.
  • Loss of teacher role.
  • Loss of analysis and reflection that develop critical thinking due to excess information on the web.
  • Little collaboration in the working group, allowing students to take advantage of collaborative learning and not work all their members.

conclusion

In conclusion, it is very important to have a teaching population prepared to assume the challenges that arise in the educational environment, since the use of technology must create in students the desire to learn naturally and teachers have the responsibility ofUnderstand the existing reality that through adequate planning will guide our children and adolescents to use technological resources efficiently.
