The appearance of behaviorism in the twentieth century due to World War II

Behaviorism is a current of renovation that I appreciate in the twentieth century due to the explosion of World War II in Europe causing several philosophical thinkers to migrate to the United States that is the place of origin of this approach with its author Robert Dahl,This current arises as a rejection of the vision at that time that was institutionalism. Behaviorism also arises due to the affinity that political scientists had at that time to demonstrate that there is a certain approach of this discipline that granted the character of scientific. This is how this current begins to focus on the analysis of human behavior, including the study of decision -making and choice processes.

In this way, behaviorism was configured as a dominant paradigm in the 60’s in opposition to postulates that focused on formal government structures ´´. Before this current, political science was more descriptive and systematic, so this new perspective tried to correct weaknesses through the recognition of a theory, through the scientific method by applying different methodologies.

It is worth mentioning that behaviorism had a significant preponderance of positivism, since it was in search of the exploration of objectivity and the importance of the accumulation of knowledge, trying in this way of oppressing all empirical focus that could be verifiable through the application of certainMethodologies.

Giving certain characteristics to this approach that are divided into four, first the generalization studies the individual political behaviors in a descriptive way.

This is done through the observation that is the second characteristic, then we have the verification that is based on the observation and generalizations thisTry to give an objective criterion and finally the quantification that is the successive accumulation of all the knowledge obtained by the other three characteristics.

With behaviorism there are two ways to understand the different social phenomena: the holism that explains how social macro structures influence the way of acting of individuals, while methodological individualism explains that social macro structures are the result of the actions of the actions of the action ofindividuals
