Misconstrued Account of a Crucified Soldier
Hook. Although a century and three years have passed since the story about the Crucified Canadian Soldier swept around the world, people have not been able to agree whether the crucifixion was a true story or fallacy.
Introduction. While some factions maintain that German troops crucified a Canadian soldier with bayonets on a tree, in Ypres, Belgium, other sects maintain that no Canadian soldier was crucified.
Thesis. Regardless of what people say about the Crucified Canadian Soldier, evidence proves the story was just a ploy propaganda that British soldiers used during World War I to gain the attention of German troops.
Argument 1: Three people purported to have eye-witnessed the event provide contradictory information regarding time, place, and name of the soldier who was crucified. Ursula Challoner, a British Red Cross nurse, treated as an eyewitness to the event, without proof named the slain soldier as Harry Brant. Challoner’s account remains contradictory to other eyewitnesses’ accounts
Argument 2. There is no substantial proof that the Canadian soldier was crucified. After World War I had ended, the German government requested the Canadian government to investigate the alleged crucifixion, and Canada gave a “not proven” verdict on the issue. Sir Arthur Currie also said, “I have never come across any positive evidence that such a crucifixion ever took place.” Thus, disapproving the story.

Argument 3. The Canadian solder crucifixion myth was just atrocity propaganda (or war strategy) that the British government used to provoke their opponent, Germans. The British soldiers thought it wise to invent and exaggerate an atrocity story to incite the German Soldiers to commit more crime in revenge for alleged propaganda.
Conclusion. The story about the crucified Canadian soldier is a fake use; it was only used for propaganda to harm the German troops in World War 1
