In your opinion, what is a good definition of theatre? What does it include? What does it NOT include?
In most cases, people refer to dramatic, and music plays when defining theatre. According to Guthrie, Chaillet & Davis (2014), the best definition of theatre should incorporate features of dance, opera, mime, carnivals, puppet shows vaudeville and any other visual stage performances. Therefore a theatre refers to all collaborative performance through which actors and actress express the meanings and intentions of a text through actions that have been carefully planned to create drama. A theatre includes actors and actresses, an audience, dramatic scripts from with the performance is created. Theatre does not include forms of literary art.
Why is the audience significant, in your opinion?
The audience is an essential part of a theatre. Their primary role is to create a demand similar to any consumer in the market, thus encouraging the actors and actress to keep on performing on the stage. Also, the audience is responsible for dictating the content to be presented. They guide the producer on the content and resources to select for a given act. The reaction of the audience during acting is used as a feedback to gauge the quality of the action and the performance of the actors in their roles. As a result, the directors can know the areas they should work on to improve the next performances.
Why, do you think, does the wordplay mean both a theatrical production and children’s games?
Wordplay in both theatre products and children games refers to a clever arrangement and manipulation of words to create amusements.

What terms did the text use that are unfamiliar?
What are the differences between a movie, a concert, and a play? Are they similar in any way?
The main difference between a concert, movie, and play is the location of the audience. In the case of the concert, the audience is always present, and there is the need for the actor to project their voices and perform well for the audience to see and hear. On the other hand, movies the audience is usually not present at the place where the action is done. Instead, the acts are recorded then later aired to the audience. A play differs from a concert and a movie as it is a form of literary art performed through dialogue among the actor. Even though both plays and concerts are performed before a live audience, a concert is purely live music performance whereas a play involves very little or no music, instead, there is a dialogue between characters from a playwright. Movies allow the manipulation of the content lighting, video and audio properties before they are delivered to the client. This is not possible for concerts and plays.
