The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck. Reaction and Response Paper. Bringing out the essence of being a woman, Steinbeck brings about a sense of realization among his readers especially in the manner by which they handle the different constraints of being in an unwanted relationship. Steinbeck introduced the character of Elisa in the narrative through third-person speech pattern, nevertheless, it is obvious how he wanted to use the character of Elisa as the eyes and ears of his readers into the picture he wanted to paint alongside the story he wanted to share to the public. Noticeably, it could be understood that such approach to writing has lead Steinbeck into opening new doors of improvement on how women’s values ought to be given attention to by their male counterparts.
In the narrative, Elisa was a married woman, a person who was supposedly committed to her husband. However, the conditions she was in and the situations she was subjected to made her feel like as if she did not belong to such a bond anymore. Considering such feelings, it could be understood why she became attracted to another man at a much lower level of recognition compared to that of her husband’s. Considerably, especially in relation to the time when the narrative was first written, such actions and feelings ought to be managed accordingly. They ought to be given way especially because she is already tied up in a relationship [no matter how seemingly unwanted it may appear]. She has the responsibility to become more concerned on how she presents herself as the wife and simply keep what she actually feels for another to herself.

Wait! To write a piece of respons on the short story ” The Chrysanthemums” paper is just an example!

She does not need to attest to her being and to become more endowed in embracing a new sense of being [she can dream all she wants, but dreaming is all it will ever be]. The desire that Elisa has developed for another man is quite the element of hope that she has to represent the meaning of her existence. She has become numb about what her marriage is going through all because of this particular connection. Is it right? The considerations over such matters have already been set aside.
For many women today, the condition o their thinking follows the same pattern; knowing that they are already part of a omitted relationship, they learn how to settle for less. While their counterparts give lesser attention to what they feel; they might be tempted to get the satisfaction from others who might be able to satisfy their needs.. What constitutes such point of desire? Women are sensitive; women desire attention and appreciation. When they do not get such elements of functional relationships with their partners, it is most often than not that they fail to see the real worth of their being; they tend to recognize too little of themselves that they begin to resort to finding comfort from others.
Responding to such desire is almost impossible; but is presented in the story to have an essence of necessity. Even from a distance, Elisa tried to respond to her desires thus making it easier for her to survive the constraints and pressures of her relationship with her husband. Believably, it could be understood that the condition of development in the story provides a more prospective essence of giving way to the hidden being behind the person that individuals show to others. Somehow, everyone has a secret; and everyone has something in their minds they may not want to completely share with others. These secrets are kept simply because they do not conform with the acceptable manners of moral values that the society actually recognizes well.
Furthermore, the work of Steinbeck challenges the willingness of the society to accept what is real and become more effective in making a distinct effect on the thinking of the people living within the communities at present. Noticeably, his desire to give attention to such hidden desires is one that is kept within the hidden ideals of people in the past; however, this writing brings in the possibility of providing a new sense of realization on the part of how humans ought to confront themselves with regards how they show the reality behind themselves. This confrontation to self, challenges the way humans deal with their personal issues and how most of these issues are kept in secret simply because they do not have the courage to get out of their comfort zones and embrace the bigger possibilities of being happy. Settling for less has been the common choice of many individuals at present. Likely, many do not want to engage in any particular point of confronting their current comfort zones nor do they want to get out of it, simply because there are risks they know would have to be broken and barricades that need to be confronted. These matters ought to be given serious consideration as it tells so much about the considerable realities about human basics an how they ought to be handled to break the trend of people not being able to realize the full value of their being.
