Developing

Our country is located in the Pacific Fire belt, which receives that name precisely by the homonymous ocean, which means that it is subject and has a very important volcanic activity. “The belt or ring is the geographical area of the planet with the greatest seismic and volcanic activity. It covers about 40.000 kilometers, between eastern America and western Asia, and that is where the largest amount of volcanoes in the world is settled.”(Romero, 2018)

In this painting we can observe the potential volcanic threats in the continental part, there are data since 1532 .Volcanic eruptions caused irreparable damage, such as loss of human lives. Some victims died from injuries or burns caused by the debris of structures collapsed by the seismic waves of the volcano, or by the emanated lava. Others perished for inhaling poisonous gases, and there are even people who laughed at the intense heat present in the area of the incident. The ashes caused damage to crops, contaminated water and atmosphere for a long time.

According to data taken from the Geophysical Institute of Ecuador we have 81 active volcanoes throughout our territory, all these volcanoes are dangerous, but some are more dangerous than others, the chalupas volcano is considered a “supervolcan” has a 12 -kilometer horizon, due to its potentialdestructive, which compares with that of a catastrophe equivalent to the fall of a meteorite.
