Tutankhamen’s Death – A Mystery Unraveled
Tutankhamen belonged to XVIIIth dynasty of Pharaoh. However, his death at an age of 18 years has become a mystery for both historians as well as biological scientists. This paper will evaluate the mystery under the light of scientific developments as well as theological perspectives in order to dissect the problem and to find the most promising theory.
Considering the theological pieces of evidence suggests being casted on the person(s) who would disturb the mummy and more specifically, a pharaoh. Apart from that, speculations have also explained that the curse can bring death, illness and bad luck (Hankey, 2007). On numerous instances, these speculations have been assessed and were found nothing more than “unadulterated clap trap” as Donald Redford (Booth, 2007).
Under the light of scientific developments, various researchers have worked on any potential illness that Tutankhamen had. Boyer et al. (2003) has established pieces of evidence of radiographs that have ruled out the death of Tutankhamen from trauma. Similar researches by Hawass et al. (2010) have ruled out different diseases that can be a part of his ancestral backgrounds and genetics. However, the study has pointed out a possible reason of Malarial infection and Kohler’s disease. This theory was further explored by a different group of researchers Timmann & Meyer (2010) and found another two basic alternatives for the cause of death that included Gauche’s disease and sickle cell disease.

The scientific outlook provides much better explanation about the death of Tutankhamen. The core reasons behind it are that they surely are supported with massive scientific research and experimentations. And most importantly, it presents a better explanation of Tutankhamen’s death.
All in all, it is highly likely that Tutankhamen death was because of illness. It is not sure the root cause of death; however, scientific research is the only viable way for finding the answer.
