Crystal and Derek talk about the differences in stands for American English and British English. During the investigation that they did in 2016, they realized that different cultures have to be put into context while getting the meaning of a word or a sentence. According to them, the language barrier comes in various forms. This may be the differences in cultures or differences that are words have when they have been assigned their meanings. In the American and British context, different cultural barriers affect a communication process. In an organization, it is important that one understands this cultural barrier so that it does not affect the message that they are supposed to deliver. Cultural barriers come from the understanding of different sentiments by different people. Their investigation was around organizations where different cultures interacted. They have realized that there are differences in the vocabularies and sentences. For example, in the American culture, one of the most common greetings is’ how are you?’ However, for the British, they realized that their greeting took the form of, ‘are you alright?’ They were included that one has to understand the differences in cultures and meanings.
