Weddings in their cultures

Introduction

In Spain, traditional weddings are very large and long. They usually invite more than 200 people! First they exchange votes, then there is a ceremony known as the LASO, followed by a traditional dance called ‘Fiestidillas Manchegas’. Finally, there is a dinner and reception where firecrackers are lit. In addition, pink and rice petals are thrown for prosperity and fertility. The guests wear a long lace mantilla and the bride traditionally wears a white silk wedding dress, a symbol of Christian devotion and purity. Finally, the boyfriend has a special shirt that the bride has embroidered.

Developing

As in Australia, in Spain ‘the boyfriend is not allowed to see his girlfriend before the wedding’ (2) and the bride’s father accompanies her to the wedding walking with her in the hallway. Additionally, in Spain and Australia the launch of the bouquet is common. The woman who catches him will marry. Rings arrangement in Spain is very different from Australia. Spanish couples carry the rings in their right hands.

While in Australia the ring is carried in the fourth finger of the left hand. However, the biggest difference in Spain is that there are no wedding sponsors. What there are are sponsors, who are usually the father of the bride and the mother of the boyfriend. The aspect of the theme that surprised me was that in Spain there is no lady of honor, better a man.

While in Australia they help with all the planning, purchases, choose the robe, the suit, invitations and organize the holidays.

Wait! Weddings In Their Cultures paper is just an example!

They are very important and are with the bride/boyfriend at the beginning of the ceremony. Religion is the main reason for these cultural differences.

conclusion

Roman Catholicism is the main religion in Spain, while more than half of the Australians are considered Christians. This is why the sponsors are more important in Spain. They help with everything, so there are no ladies of honor or a better man. The family is seen as more important than friends.

A Spanish person would be surprised that we have a bucks and bachelor party. This is almost as important as the wedding. This is another thing that honor ladies and ‘best man’ organize. It is crucial, because it is the last fun night before the couple marries.
