Why Managers Do Not Delegate
Question 1
The most probable reason as to why managers do not delegate tasks is that they genuinely believe that it is their responsibility to guarantee the company’s success; whereby their authority and status depend on these accomplishments in their line of duty. However, this believes rather misguided as the managers should delegate tasks within the workforce (Parvez 10). Managers should overcome this reason through learning the benefits of ‘delegating strategically’ to employees. “Delegating strategically “incorporates forethought planning to guarantee that all opportunities and advantages are maximized while allocating duties to the employees. Firstly, delegating offers many benefits to managers as they get the mandate to cross items from the ‘to-do’ list and seek assistance from a trusted and competent employee. Other employees gain knowledge and skills that are necessary for the future of the organization. Similar developments prepare the employees to meet the needed qualifications to complete future assignments and attain promotion (Lyons 1). Managers must overcome this fear by delegating efficiently and strategically. This is attainable through creating a plan, defining the standards and objectives of work, specifying the discretion ranges, and involve the subordinates for an efficient delegation process.
Managers must learn to delegate duties to multiply the organizational value over time. Delegation allows managers manage their teams and advance higher responsibility to acquire success.

The subordinates must help the manager chose the right employee for the jobs. The employee should be capable and willing to do the job (Parvez 7). The manager should allocate the smaller tasks to new employees to build their competence and confidence. They must delegate the entire responsibility and ensure a hundred percent competence. Managers must be sure about the time, finances, and staffs needed to do every duty to be confident about the organization’s success.
Question 2
I believe that most employees avoid being delegated to by their managers because of lack of trust and believe in themselves. Most employees think that their capabilities are limited, hence refusing to accept challenges from the delegation. They fear that the superiors and their colleagues will know of their incapability when they fail in their allocated tasks. Consequently, inferiority complex becomes a severe obstacle towards delegation of duties (Parvez 11).
Response
The manager’s primary task is to ensure that the company/organization achieves its goals through successful completion of its mission and goals. Productive and successful managers know the responsibilities of delegating duties (Lyons 2). They allocate time for planning, monitoring, and collaborating with the staff members of the organization in meeting essential milestones. A competent manager provides development opportunities and feedback to the staff members who accept delegation of duties. Studies prove that managers must, however, find the perfect employee to delegate the responsibilities to guarantee success. The staff members must be responsible and dedicated to handle the task and see it as an opportunity for advancement of their knowledge and skills. Time factor must be considered through the delivery and assessment of Progress Reports and ensuring that the deadline completes all projects and tasks. Successful managers confirm and understand their employee’s commitment and skills to the delegation discussions. They delegate their functions to the most appropriate employee and define his/her authority level (Lyons 3). This power drives the employee to accomplish the tasks and produce the required results. Managers must inform their subordinates as they need to know, assist, and cooperate with the chosen employee to complete the assigned tasks and duties.
