Sociology is the scientific study of social relationships, culture, institution and social interaction. Areas of study in sociology include race, social class, religion, crime, state, and family. Frenchman Auguste Compte proposed the use of sociology in the 1830s to study human activities. The purpose of sociology is to analyses how human actions are shaped by culture and social structures (Maturana 2015).
Sociologists analyses the social interaction from between two human beings to complex interactions such as relationships that pertain to multinational interaction. Notably, sociologists assume that human beings have a wide room for social interaction. They study the social processes that affect how human feel, think and behave. personal lives, community relationship and the world play an important role in sociology. Romantic love, for instance, is analyzed at a personal to establish its causes, consequences and how they influence human being. Crime, law, discrimination, and poverty are analyzed by sociologists at the society level. Factors that are analyzed at the global level include war, population growth and economic development (Maturana 2015).
Sociologists gather and analyze information about social life to understand the main social processes. The experts in sociology interpret historical documents, study human life and conduct interviews to gather information. Other methods that are used include analysis of census and interpretation of videotaped interactions.
