Whether women had a renaissance according to Joan Kelly-Gadol
Indeed there could be the belief that women earned power, freedom, respect and their self-esteem during the times of the Renaissance in the same manner as the males. However, in other perspectives, the social stand of the women had a regression to that of the Ancient Greece. Men, for instance, enjoyed the privileges of top notch education, higher privileges of legal rights, well-paying job opportunities, and better lifestyles during the Renaissance times (Kelly-Gadol 175). Meanwhile, women ended up losing power, experienced unstable relationships, sexual harassment, economic manipulation and also manipulation in instances associated with politics and the related ideologies with the same. The aim of this paper, for this reason, will be in the evaluation of whether women had renaissance as postulated by Joan Kelly-Gadol
The truth is that there were female painters and writers, but this did not lead to them earning the desired fame or even commission in the same manner their male counterparts enjoyed the same. On the same note, these job opportunities did not place men at a good position in becoming great movers in the society (Kelly-Gadol 177). Added to the same, women also ended up losing power within their relationships. For instance, in the medieval period, it is the courtly case of love that led to women acquiring power within their marital and love affairs plus also giving them an opportunity in the choice of the partners they should lead the life within these relationships.

A good example here is the case where the Noble women during the Renaissance had no choice but to get involved in the arrangement of marriages for both the power and the economic ties. The same women had their sexuality confined in circumstances where the chastity was part of the expectation despite the male counterparts on their side enjoying a lot of freedom (Kelly-Gadol 180). Meanwhile, despite the poor women at this time lacking the knights in persuading their husbands, their same men depended on them in situations that required attending to many duties in both the farm and home. Some of these functions are harvesting, sewing, rearing of children, planting, animal care and much more. Regarding this, women became indispensable and as a result gaining some power within their marriage setups.
Due to the nature of the political structure of the Renaissance, those wives of the noble had with them less power on politics. The wealth got always confined at home where the servants had the responsibility of managing the errands while either one or two daughters could have the permission of attending the convents (Kelly-Gadol 183). Similarly, the sons of the noble plus those of the middle class had access to quality education in the field of sciences and arts. In this case, there was an expectation to be real scholars or business men upon acquiring the needed skills in these areas. However, the good girls gained the knowledge on embroiling, household management, fashion wear and also the way to behave more of a woman like while those ladies from the middle class could only access to low education content (Kelly-Gadol 187). During this time, it is only men who could attend universities and in other extreme cases; women had no say in issues concerned with politics.
In conclusion, the influence that emanated from time in concurrent with the Ancient Greece and Rome in which formed part of the impact on the husbands and sons of women in ascending to power was only possible in the instances of family influences like the case of Medici. For this reason, it gives a justification, which for real, women never had renaissance during the period known as the Renaissance. To add to the same, women had to be patient in waiting for close to 500 years that covers the period of the 1970s and 1980s where they started enjoying the support from their rights movement.
